Because the casino is slightly off the main highway, it is worth checking the route before heading out, even if only for half a minute.
Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and the tournament calendar
We tested both cash game formats during our visit. Hold’em is the main workhorse here - it runs on a continuous basis and the overall player pool is built around it. Omaha, by comparison, was more situational and needs enough people asking for it before it appears.

Cash games run off a waiting list system. In practice, a room that needs a list is a room that has real traffic; that is just the reality of live poker. When we arrived on a Friday evening, our name went several spots down from the top. For a regional casino, that level of action is a healthy sign.

From our own visit, Friday evening stood out as the best moment to sit down again. The list moved, the room had a good level of noise and energy, and the shuttle service made the trip smoother, especially for players coming out of Trois-Rivières.
The free shuttle and getting there
The shuttle program stood out more than we expected going in. Grand Royal Wôlinak Casino runs a free shuttle service on Friday and Saturday evenings, from 17:00 until midnight. Every passenger receives a $10 game credit when using it. That is a simple incentive, but in reality it removes some hassle if you do not want to think about parking or a long late-night drive home.
Shuttle reservations go through 819 384-1925, the same number used for general reservations and group bookings. If you are setting up a poker outing with friends or planning a corporate evening, group packages are organized through that same line.
Driving on your own works just fine too. GPS recognizes the address without any problem, there is on-site parking, and the property has a few side options - Le Ginko restaurant, L’Octogone sports bar, and a bingo hall - so you are not left staring at a blank wall if you land early and have to wait for your seat.
